October 5 , 2008

 A Note from the Pastor

Welcome New Member                                                         We welcome Kyle Garrison to our church family.  Kyle comes to our church by transfer of letter.  Many of you have gotten to know Kyle. as he has been actively worshiping and participating in the life of our church for several months.  Kyle has already been involved in helping lead the R. A. Program on Wednesday nights.  Make sure that you let him know how glad we are to have him as part of our First Baptist Family.

Our Harvest Offering to date has been $26,760.                 This is an amazing demonstration of faithfulness by our church family.  Remember, these gifts will be used to undergird all the ministries of our General Budget that bless us throughout the year.  Thank you for your participation in this offering, and for your faithfulness in tithes and offerings throughout the year.  I know that God will take this offering and multiply its effect as we serve the Lord together through our church.

Harvest Sunday                                                                     Was a special blessing all day long.  Everything about the morning worship time was special, from baptism to the Children's Choir,  to the Choir's presentation of "Days of Elijah", to having a new member join at the conclusion of the service.  The Harvest Celebration topped off the day.  There was a wonderful time of fellowship and food, followed by an outstanding time of musical worship led by Bob Smith.  Thank all who brought the food we enjoyed.  We are grateful to the Fellowship Committee for their outstanding work in making the evening a special success.  Thanks to all who helped to make Sunday a special day in God's House.

Bro. Jim

 From Where I Stand

Don Moen wrote a song with the words, "God is good...all the time and all the time God is good."                                     These words echo in my heart as I reflect upon the wonderful day God gave us last Sunday.  God is good...all the time!

God is good...all the time in Sunday School.                              We had 284.  We have one more Sunday in our high attendance campaign.  Please enlist people to attend Sunday School next Sunday.  Let's do our best to reach 300.

God is good...all the time in the Music Ministry                       Thank you church, for your wonderful comments about the "Celebration" Adult choir's special music last Sunday.  The adult choir works hard and they pray that the Lord will use them every week.  You can be a part of this marvelous group, by attending choir rehearsal every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

Thank You,                                                                                  Ann Mott and Terri Finley for great music from the organ and piano.  Ann and Terri are committed to presenting wonderful praise every Sunday.  Thank these ladies for their great praise and worship.

God is good...all the time in Children's Choir.                           Praise the Lord for the wonderful music presented last Sunday morning by our children.  They are a special group and the Lord is using them in a mighty way.  Take a moment and thank Tina Adamson, Sandra Miller and Denise Banks for their wonderful labor of love with the children.  Thank you, parents for allowing your children to be a part of children's choir.

God is good...all the time in Fellowship.                                     Last Sunday night was a special night as we gathered in the fellowship hall for plenty of food and music.  I praise the Lord for Bob Smith and Jeff Cleghorn for their marvelous worship and praise.  These men love Jesus and seek to honor the Lord through their music.  Thank you for your response toward these men.

Pray for Sandy and Me                                                               As we lead music this Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Westmeade Baptist Church in Decatur, Al.  e have been invited to be a part of their Homecoming Anniversary service.  We were privileged to serve that church from 1989-1999.

We resume                                                                                  All of Discipleship Training studies this coming Sunday Night at 6:15 p.m.  Please be a part of these studies.

Be Encouraged...Bro. Bob
